Jonathan D. Mariner is a private investor, entrepreneur, and independent board member with more than two decades of experience working in professional sports. He’s currently the Founder and President of TaxDay, LLC, a private software firm that has built and now distributes an app that uses the location tracking features of a mobile device to help users track their multi-state travel for tax purposes. He also serves as a Senior Advisor to Overtime Sports, the newest sports network focused on young, digital-native sports fans, following a stint as the Interim Head of Regional Sports Networks for Fox Regional Sports Networks. He recently retired following 23 years working in professional sports where, in his last role, he was appointed by MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred to serve as Chief Investment Officer of Major League Baseball, responsible for overseeing approximately $2 billion in combined league-wide pension assets, and MLB’s strategic investment funds. He also served as President of the league’s captive insurance company, BASES, which provides property and casualty insurance coverage to all 30 teams and ballparks.

Mr. Mariner spent the previous 12.5 years serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Major League Baseball where, in addition to his responsibilities for overseeing the League’s overall treasury, budgeting, financial reporting, and risk management activities, his duties also included managing the MLB’s $2.0 billion league-wide credit facility; providing quarterly updates at MLB Owners’ Meetings on the industry’s financial health; and overseeing all Club-level league required financial reporting through the team CFO’s.

Mr. Mariner previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Florida Marlins Baseball Club; as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Florida Panthers Hockey Club during their initial start-up and 1993-94 inaugural seasons; and as Vice president and Chief Financial Officer for Sun Life Stadium, the multi-use sports complex that served as home for both the Florida Marlins and Miami Dolphins.

Mr. Mariner currently serves on the board of directors Tyson Foods, Inc.; McGraw Hill Education; The Investors Exchange (IEX); and OneStream. He also serves on a number of charitable, foundation and advisory boards, including the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate Business School Board of Trustees; The Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics; and Little League Baseball. Mr. Mariner graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. degree in Accounting; received his MBA degree from the Harvard Business School; and is a former Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
