Dr. Basile is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in New York State. Additionally, Dr. Basile earned the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) credential from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts and also the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Dr. Basile is a professor at Hofstra University teaching courses in forensic accounting, fraud, auditing, accounting information systems, and taxation for undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Basile also serves as a Senator on the Hofstra University Senate.

Dr. Basile’s doctoral dissertation won a national research award as the Most Outstanding Dissertation in Business Education in 2001. Dr. Basile’s other research has been published in the accounting, taxation, education and legal journals. He co-authored articles on selection of high end and low end accounting software, e-commerce, audit engagement risk, whistle blower litigation, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and no-fault insurance fraud (cited by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals).

Dr. Basile is frequently quoted in media outlets such as the Long Island Business News, Newsday and the New York Times. He is a frequent lecturer to business groups and has made numerous television appearances on topics such as business valuations, retirement planning, stock options, divorce settlements, federal government shutdowns, sales tax issues and the accountants role as business advisor. He has been an expert witness in several cases involving business valuations and a guest on several radio stations, speaking on technical and business issues. Based on that expertise, Dr. Basile was the technical writer for the accounting profession’s one and only business valuation standard, the AICPA’s SSVS#1.

Dr. Basile is the Past President of the Nassau Chapter of the New York State Society of CPA’s. Additionally, he serves as a Board Member of the New York State Board of Public Accountancy, a regulatory Board of the Regents of the State of New York.
