Richard S. Kestenbaum began his legal career in 1974 as a lawyer with the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service.  In 1980, Mr. Kestenbaum left the government for private practice and shortly thereafter formed Kestenbaum & Mark. Mr. Kestenbaum represents corporations, individuals and estates concerning sensitive domestic and foreign tax issues resulting in civil and criminal controversies with the Internal Revenue Service and state and local tax authorities, including related litigation in state and federal courts. Mr. Kestenbaum also represents and advises individuals and corporations on various corporate and real estate transactions. He is a member of the New York and Florida Bars, a member of the Tax Sections of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association.  He is the Associate Village Justice of the Villages of Great Neck Plaza and Kensington, a past president of the Nassau County Magistrate’s Association and a long-term member of the Board of Ethics of the Town of North Hempstead.  He is a frequent lecturer on matters concerning tax controversy including Federal and State criminal tax investigations and litigations.  Mr. Kestenbaum has been selected as a New York Super Lawyer and Long Island Top Legal Eagle.
